It's Political Party Caucus Time in East Haven

East Haven Democrats will hold their caucus this Tuesday, and East Haven Republicans gathering for their caucus on Jan. 16.

Over the next few days Republicans and Democrats will each have a chance to cast their vote for who represents them in their political party's local town committee.

The East Haven Democratic Town Committee will hold its caucus this Tuesday, Jan. 10, beginning at 7 p.m., at the Senior Center.

And then, the East Haven Republican Town Committee will hold its caucus next Monday, Jan. 16, beginning at 7 p.m., at the Senior Center,

At each caucus, all registered Democrats or Republicans in East Haven will have the opportunity to cast their ballot to nominate and then vote to determine who will make up the membership of their respective town committee's new board.

New members will each serve a two-year term.

In Connecticut this year, all local town committee caucuses — both for Democrats and Republicans — are required to be held between Jan. 10 to Jan 17. Results of the caucus must then be certified by the by Jan. 18 at 4 p.m.

Newly elected members will take their seats on March 7. Town committee officers are then elected afterwards.
