East Haven Approves New ATV, Dirt Bike Ordinance [DOCS]

Responding to frequent complaints from residents regarding safety, traffic and noise concerns, East Haven now has a new ordinance on the books to help regulate the use of ATVs and dirt bikes in town.

The new law was approved by the Town Council Wednesday evening, immediately after a required public hearing was held on the ordinance at the East Haven Senior Center.

A copy of the new ordinance, as well as an open letter read into the public record by Mayor Joseph Maturo Jr during the hearing, are attached to this post as PDFs.

Concerns regarding public safety and dirt bikes and ATVs recklessly riding about town roads has been a frequent and ongoing topic of discussion among residents, as well as right here on East Haven Patch.

In February, several riders were arrested here after they allegedly taunted East Haven Police and then posted video of their activities online.
