Verdict In East Haven Police Officers' Case Could Come This Week
Jury members began their deliberations Friday in the trial of two of the four East Haven Police officers accused of civil rights violations by federal officials.
A verdict could come as early as today in the trial of two East Haven Police officers accused of criminal civil rights violations, according to a New Haven Register report.
Jurors began their deliberations Friday in the federal case against David Cari and Dennis Spaulding.
Two other East Haven Police officers indicted last year along with Cari and Spaulding — John Miller and Jason Zullo — are not part of the current jury trial.
Although all four men initially plead "not guilty" to the federal charges, both Miller and then Zullo lchanged their pleas to "guilty" earlier this year.

The federal indictment alleged the officers "conspired to injure, oppress, threaten, and intimidate individuals in East Haven in violation of their Constitutional rights."
If convicted on all the charges against them, Cari and Spaulding could face a sentence of up to 20 years in federal prison, according to the New Haven Report.
