One Arrested in Backyard Assault

The same day as Hasting's apprehension, police collared Mario Perez, 33, for an assault that took place at a Sackett Point Road residence in August.

Perez and an accomplice allegedly attacked a victim in the backyard of the home, knocking him to the ground and kicking him in the face before police could arrive. The victim sustained serious injuries, and lost a tooth during the assault.

Perez was taken into custody on Jan. 5, and charged with assault in the second degree, and breach of peace. He was released on $10,000 bond, and is expected to appear in court on Jan. 19.

An active arrest warrant is out for the individual who participated with him in the assault.
