Two Dead, One Hospitalized in North Branford Triple Shooting [VIDEO]

Police say the incident is isolated and likely domestic. Names of the victims are being withheld pending family notification.

Police say a couple — a 42-year-old man and 39-year-old woman — are both dead, and that a 72-year-old man has been hospitalized following what appears to be a triple shooting in North Branford Saturday night.

According to Lt. David D'Ancicco of the , the names of the deceased are being withheld pending family notification and the ongoing investigation at 55 Brook Lane.

“We’d like to make the people and residents of North Branford who reside in this area aware that we feel this is an isolated incident, we feel that it was possibly domestic in nature and that there is no immediate threat to anybody in North Branford right now,” D’Ancicco said.

The department’s detective division is on scene, he said, and awaiting arrival of the Connecticut State Police Major Crimes Unit and officials from the state attorney’s office in New Haven.

Mayor Anthony Candelora said details of the incident remained unclear, but said that the father of the family at 55 Brook Lane appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was transported to the hospital.

Candelora described the shooting — which he originally heard on a police scanner as “horrible” and “unimaginable” — said he couldn’t remember a similar incident ever taking place in North Branford.

“Obviously, it’s a tragedy in our town and something that’s shocking to me and all our residents, and my heart goes out to this family,” Candelora said. “I love this town … I don’t know what else to say.”

Update 9:33 p.m.

Six North Branford police vehicles, including two unmarked cars, are parked in the area of 55 Brook Lane. The home is now cordoned off with yellow police tape wrapped around the property’s trees in this normally quiet neighborhood.

Neighbors and media outlets including TV crews are milling around on porches and awaiting details from police.

According to tax records, the split-level home at 55 Brook Lane (see map) is owned by Jean and Richard Fletcher.
