Police: Four East Haven Restaurants Cited for Illegal Alcohol Sales to Minors

And one East Haven corner store was also cited for the sale of tobacco to someone under the age of 18, police said.

Four East Haven restaurants have been cited for allegedly serving alcohol to minors, police said

According to East Haven Police Deputy Chief John Mannion, members of the and agents from the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection’s Liquor Control Division conducted unannounced compliance inspections of establishments that sell alcohol products in East Haven on Dec. 10.

"The inspections were performed in an effort to determine compliance with state laws concerning the sale of such products to those under the age of 21," Mannion said.

A total of 18 inspections were conducted, and Mannion said of those 18, four restaurants were found to be in violation of state laws regarding the sale of alcohol to a minor.

"They face sanctions from liquor control as well as the Department of Consumer Protection," mannion said.

The East Haven establishments cited for alcohol sale violations were:

• , 16 Main St.

Anastasio’s Restaurant, 640 Silver Sands Rd.

• , 346 Hemingway Ave.

Bistro Mediterranean Tapas Bar, 383 Main St. 

In addition, East Haven Police assisted the state of Connecticut’s Tobacco Prevention and Enforcement Division with unannounced compliance inspections of establishments that sell tobacco products in town today, Dec. 12.

Mannion reported that a total of 13 inspections were conducted. And of those, only one store — Nick’s Corner Store at 388 Main St. — sold tobacco to minors under the age of 18.

"The clerk that made the sale was issued a $200 infraction and the license holder faces additional administrative sanctions from the Department of Revenue Services," Mannion said.
