Shoreline Toddler At Yale Hospital Following Tractor Accident

The 3-year-old girl was with a parent on a two-seat tractor when she either fell off or was run over, sustaining injuries, according to Clinton Police.

For the second time this summer, a serious accident involving a toddler and tractor has occured here along the shoreline.

Shortly after 6 p.m. tonight, Clinton Police responded to a tractor accident at 110 Commerce Street in Clinton involving a 3-year-old girl.

Sgt. Jeremiah Dunn of the Clinton Police said the girl — who is not being named at this time — was with a parent, also not being named, seated on a tractor when she either fell off or was run over, sustaining injuries.

"She was conscious and alert when the ambulance arrived at Yale," said Dunn.

The 110 Commerce Street is a private home, noted Dunn.

The tractor was not a lawn mower type vehicle but a medium-size vehicle with a bucket on one side and a scoop on the other. It has two seats, one allegedly held the parent, the other allegedly the young girl.

The accident is currently under investigation.

The incident is similar to a fatal accident that occured earlier this summer at the Branford home of former East Haven town official Ralph Mauro.
