Route 1 Closed in Branford at Amtrak Bridge Oct. 6-7

Route 1 will be closed at the AMTRAK Bridge, between the area of I-95 Exit 53 On/Off-ramp and Short Beach Rd (Rte-142) beginning Saturday, October 6 from 9 p.m. until Sunday, October 7 at 12 noon while overhead bridge girders are installed. [Read more about the bridge project here]

All Route 1 traffic will be detoured following Connecticut D.O.T. guidelines to I-95 in both directions.

For your convenience, Branford residents should take this opportunity to locate an alternate local detour route around the Route 1 closure using our local secondary roadways.

If using a local detour, please keep in mind that these routes may take you through neighborhoods and that speed limits of 25 mph will be strictly enforced.
