[UPDATE] Man Dies From Stab Wounds Received During East Haven Fight

Two of the three men stabbed — all brothers and former East Haven residents — were taken to the hospital in critical condition following the incident, which occurred Tuesday along Maplevale Road.

Update at 10:05 p.m.

The East Haven Police Department has confirmed that one of the stabbing victims has died as a result of his injuries sustained from Tuesday's assault.

The Connecticut State Police Major Crimes Squad is assisting with the investigation, which is now classified as a homicide.

At this time, names are still being withheld until all notifications have been made.

East Haven Police say a follow up statement will be released tomorrow.

East Haven Patch will continue to provide updates as additional information becomes available.

Original Story

Three men — all of them brothers and former East Haven residents — were stabbed Tuesday afternoon during a fight with two other individuals along Maplevale Road, according to East Haven Police.

Sgt. David Emerman reports that at about 2:15 p.m, the department received numerous 911 calls reporting a fight among several males in the area of 20 Maplevale Road.

"Initial investigation revealed that three brothers were assaulted by two other males," Emergman stated.

He reported that two of the brothers, ages 21 and 26, received "multiple stab wounds."

"Both were transported to Yale New Haven Hospital in critical condition," Emerman stated.

Emerman reported that third brother, age 23, was "assaulted with an unknown blunt object, but was able to assist and is cooperating with police investigators."

He added that all three men were previously East Haven residents, but are now from Wallingford.

One 21-year-old male and a juvenile male were arrested shortly after police were contacted, Emerman said.

"Investigation indicates that the dispute took place over a stolen item," he stated.

The names of the victimes will be released pending notification to the victim’s family.

East Haven Patch will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

Reportedly they were fighting over a gold chain; completely senseless violence. What is this world coming to?

Richard: Yes, I have seen the name Mike Lieto posted by a couple of readers on our Facebook page yesterday, as well as Twitter and now The Register. But I didn't get anything official from the EHPD, and I couldn't get the hospital to confirm anything last night. So, I didn't add that update to my story last night, out of respect for time to notify family members. But yes, the name of the young man who has died is now out there.

WE THE PEOPLE have no say in how governments govern nor how OUR money is spent. WE supposedly electRead More people who take the trust of the people with them when elected and do the will of WE THE PEOPLE. This has never happened. Especially in state and federal office. Once in office the power they discover they now have pushes aside the will of the people. It an attitude of we have the power and you don't. Someday, but I doubt it, we can elect those who will not loose site of why they were elected.
