Police Money Missing

State Police are helping to investigate.

During a routine "administrative process" Thursday, police discovered that a "sizeable amount" of money stored in the department's temporary holding area was missing and contacted state police, said Deputy Chief John Mannion.

"The decision to notify the State Police to investigate this loss is an example of the Department’s position to be credible to the public we serve," Mannion said in a written statement.

He said he could not comment further while the investigation continues.
