[UPDATE] Police: Man Assaulted by Several Other Males in East Haven Friday

East Haven Police are seeking information regarding the assault — apparently a retaliatory act following the fatal stabbing of Michael Lieto — which took place late Friday afternoon near Route 80 and Highland Place.

Update at 7:45 p.m.

The New Haven Register's Jennifer Swift is reporting that this afternoon's assault may be a retalitory incident in response to the fatal stabbing of Michael Lieto, which occured during a fight Tuesday along Maplevale Road in East Haven.

Swift reports that the man assaulted Friday is the step-brother of the juvenile male suspect arrested along with Aaron Powell, 21, following Tuesday's fight.

Powell is charged with first-degree manslaughter, first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, carrying a dangerous weapon, and second-degree breach of peace.

Powell was held on a $1 million bond and was arraigned in New Haven court Wednesday.
