Police Arrest RI Man For Crash That Left 3 Dead; Including East Haven Woman
Police allege that Frank Sundstrom was driving under the influence and driving the wrong way on I-95 in Old Lyme, which caused the December crash that killed East Haven's Barbara Prato.
A Rhode Island man has been arrested after he allegedly got intoxicated and then drove the wrong way on I-95 South in December, causing an accident in Old Lyme that killed three people, including a 63-year-old woman from East Haven.
NBC Connecticut reports that Frank Sundstrom, 52, of Warick, RI, was arrested today for allegedly hitting a car with three women inside on I-95 South in Old Lyme, killing all three. Sundstrom, who police allege was intoxicated at the time, was driving northbound on I-95 South when he crashed into the oncoming car.
The crash killed Tamara Nolin, 71, of Branford, who was driving the car, and mother-daughter pair Marjorie Minore, 90, of North Haven and Barbara Prato, 63, of East Haven, who were both passengers. Sundstorm was charged with three counts of second-degree vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence, driving the wrong way on a divided highway and improper entry, and was held on $750,000 bond, according to NBC Connecticut.
