Members of the East Haven Fire Department helped to raise more than $9,000 for the St. Baldrick's Foundation during a recent fundraising drive for the national nonprofit organization.
As part of the effort, seven department members — both professional and volunteer — had their heads shaved on Friday during special event at O'Toole's Irish Bar in New Haven.
The East Haven team had set a fundraising goal of $2,500, but for exceeded their goal.
Many other local fire departments — including neighborhing North Haven and North Branford — also participated in the drive. The EHFD team finished second in the fundraising race.

Thank you to all who donated to our team for St Baldrick's . With your generous contributions we raised over $9,000 just with on line donations. Congratulations to Guilford Professional Firefighters Local 4177 on raising over $10,000 and taking home the prize. Kudos to all the teams and participants on raising over $63,000 overall online.
