Officials Confirm Two Victims of Plane Crash

At a press conference, officials would not release the names or ages of two confirmed victims of today's plane crash.

In a press conference held late Friday afternoon, officials in East Haven including Mayor Joseph Maturo, Jr. and Fire Chief Douglas Jackson would only confirm that two people have died in today's plane crash that hit two houses in East Haven.

"We know we have two victims," said Maturo.

It is believed, however, that there are four victims of the Aug. 9 crash who include the pilot and his son, and two children in one house, a 13-year old and a 1-year old.

Fire Chief Jackson said there was an "intense fire and heavy damage" to both houses, a motor vehicle belonging to one of the homeowners, and the plane.

"The house is unstable," said Maturo.

Tweed New Haven Airport Manager Lori Hoffman-Soares said the airport has remained closed and the National Safety Transportation Board is en route to investigate.  She said the plane was on approach and on course for runway #2.
