NWS: Brush Fire Danger High for Shoreline

Should one ignite here in East Haven, dry and windy conditions could cause it to spread and grow quickly.

Update on Wednesday at 11:15 a.m.

The National Weather Service brush fire danger warning continues for a second day here in East Haven, and much of the rest of the shoreline.

Although this morning's high winds are expected to taper off this afternoon.

Humidity will continue to drop throughout the day, as a very dry air mass moves into the region.

"This combination of low humidities, winds and available fine fuels, will cause an enhanced spread of brush fires, if ignited, through today," the weather service meteorologists stated in their report.

East Haven may have received a good dose of heavy rains early Monday morning.

But the National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement warning that today's "breezy and dry conditions" have mixed to create a heightened danger of brush fires for the region.

Humidity levels are expected to drop throughout the day Tuesday. And winds may gust up to 30 miles per hour.

"This combination of weather conditions, along with the dry landscape, will cause an enhanced spread of brush fires, if there as an ignition," the meteorologists stated in their report.
