On July 1, the Connecticut State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation-New Haven developed leads relative to the possible manufacturing of explosives within a residential dwelling in Northford.
Louis J. Lomarta, 51, of Forest Road, was charged with illegal manufacturing of explosives, illegal possession of explosives and illegal storage of explosives.
State police detectives were assisted by the North Branford Fire Marshal’s Office and the North Branford Police Department in an effort to for the abatement of such hazardous conditions.
Multiple explosives devices were safeguarded by the State Police Bomb Squad and removed from the residence along with hundreds of pre-cursor elements to construct such devices.
Lomartra was arrested and processed without incident. He was released on a $7,500 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear at Superior Court GA 23 on July 17, 2012.
