North Branford K-9 Unit Tracks Down Accident Suspect

East Haven police arrest suspect tracked by police dog.

The North Branford Police Department’s K-9 Unit assisted this week with the arrest of a motor vehicle operator suspected of crashing his vehicle and leaving it abandoned on Main Street.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, April 4, after East Haven officers found a heavily damaged vehicle with no one around. East Haven, which currently does not have a K-9 unit on duty, called for the assistance of North Branford Officer Mauro Piroli and his canine partner Chase.

The North Branford K-9 unit was recently re-activated, according to a press release from the North Branford police. The K-9 team has been called in before, .

Piroli and Chase tracked the suspect from the vehicle past several commercial establishments until the trail ended at the door of a residence, where police apprehended the suspect.
