Larrabee: East Haven Police, Fire Officials to Host Meeting with Business Community

East Haven Chamber of Commerce and town officials join up for their 2nd annual meeting between the town's business community, police and fire departments later this month.

(Editor's Note: The following is an open letter to East Haven's business community from Chief of Police Brent Larrabee.)

To the Editor:


Mayor Joseph Maturo Jr, the East Haven Fire Department, the East Haven Chamber of Commerce and I would like to invite you to the second meeting between the East Haven business owners and the East Haven Police and Fire Departments.

The meeting will be open to any business person from East Haven.

 There will be brief presentations by both the Police and Fire Chief discussing issues of interest to the community.

Some of those topics include crime trends in Town, current policing strategies, fire prevention strategies and the goals and objectives of the departments. 

Substantial time will be spent on an in depth presentation regarding the settlement agreement between the Town of East Haven and the United States Department of Justice.  

In addition to the presentation, the Joint Compliance Expert, Kathleen O'Toole, will address the group. She has responsibility for reviewing and monitoring the department's progress in meeting the elements of the Agreement.  

Robert Wasserman, who serves as the technical advisor for policy matters relating to the settlement agreement with the Department of Justice, will also address the attendees regarding his role in the matter.

There will be an opportunity for questions and answers following the presentations.

The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the East Haven Fire Department Company 3, 1420 North High Street. Lunch will be provided.
