Go Ahead, East Haven: 'Ask the Chief'

East Haven Interim Police Chief Brent Larrabee is on East Haven Patch — and wants to answer your questions!

It's once again time for East Haven Patch readers to "ask the chief."

East Haven Interim Police Chief Brent Larrabee is a member of our growing community of readers and contributors.

Larrabee, who was appointed to his post by Mayor Joseph Maturo Jr on Feb. 15, publishes a post on East Haven Patch once a month.

The monthly posts serve as a vehicle to answer readers' questions about the East Haven Police Department.

Each month, East Haven Patch publishes an article asking readers to post their questions in the comments section. Questions can also be emailed to askthechief@easthavenpolice.com.

This month, submissions will be closed on Wednesday at 6 p.m. And from there, we'll pick four of those questions for the chief to answer in his next post.

So do YOU have a question? Well, go ahead — and ask the chief!

Chief, Last year they was lots of support and talk about officers being cross-certified as immigration officers through the federal 287G program. Last year, the police commission stated they were looking into that program, which the federal government was offering free training for. My question is, is that program being looked into more seriously now that we have officers that speak spanish and would be better candidates for those positions and making that program a success?

Taylor Ave Resident. Just read that federal program you mentioned. WOW. But I don't think father Manship would allow this to happen. Just think about that for awhile! Boy, if only NHPD started this long time ago. One can only dream. The problem is though we in EH would need a larger cell block holding area built. But great question.

Chief, is it possible that you can speak to the owners of Trash Master and have their employees wear flourescent vests so they can be seen by motorists who leave for work in the early morning hours? Even though their trucks have spot lights on them it's hard to see the workers when they step off the curbs. If one of them gets hit by a car because of poor visibility it would present a problem to both the worker and the driver.
