East Haven Fire Department members were able to quickly extinguish a fire that engulfed a portion of a third-floor Countryside Condominiums home early this afternoon, before the blaze spread through the rest of the 75 Redwood Drive complex.

Aggressive tactics on the part of firefighters allowed department members to contain the blaze, which was fast-moving and wind-driven due to today's weather conditions.

Although prevented from becoming a major fire that destroyed the entire building, there was still significant smoke and fire damage to the home due to the fire, EHPD officials said.
