East Haven Police Stepping Up DUI Enforcement

Over the next several weeks the department will be putting additional officers on patrol specifically for DUI enforcement.

With the busy Holiday Season fast approaching, the will be conducting several different traffic enforcement initiatives over the next several weeks.

The enforcement initiatives — part of the department's ongoing commitment to keep the town's roadways safe, police officials said — include the national Click It or Ticket Campaign and the comprehensive DUI Enforcement campaign.

A Driving Under the Influence (DUI) checkpoint(s) is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11 through to 4 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12 at locations throughout East Haven.

Additionally, over the next several weeks the department will also be putting additional officers on patrol specifically for DUI enforcement.

Click or Ticket Enforcement will also be conducted during the weeks of Nov. 14 through Nov. 27 — during both day and night time hours.

Operators and occupants are reminded to buckle up.

This comprehensive motor vehicle enforcement strategy is part of an ongoing grant obtained from the Connecticut Department of Transportation to make the roads safer, police said.

"And as a reminder don’t drink and drive, or ride in a vehicle without a seat belt, it could save your life!," police officials said.
