East Haven Police Officer Honored for Longtime Service

Police Chief Brent Larrabee recently issued badge #1 to the most senior officer Robert Nappe, who began his career at the department in November 1984.

The following is an announcement from the East Haven Police that was posted on the department's Facebook page.

Recently the Chief of the East Haven Police Department, Brent Larrabee, issued badge #1 to the most senior Police Officer, Officer Robert Nappe. Officer Nappe started his career at the department in November 1984. 

Officer Nappe is a decorated Officer. Officer Nappe created, and has run the East Haven Police Dive Team and Marine Unit since its recognition in 1995. 

Officer Nappe is a S.C.U.B.A, C.P.R, and First Aid instructor. He has a Bachelor's degree in teaching from Southern Connecticut State University. 

Officer Nappe holds a Connecticut State license as a Paramedic since 1981, and has worked on the ambulance for many years. 

In September of 2001 he responded to the Twin Towers in New York as a Paramedic with AMR ambulance service after the terrorist attacks. 

He also worked as a ship Captain after hurricane Katrina to help in the cleanup. 

In 2003, Officer Nappe was a recipient of the American Red Cross Heroes of New Haven award for saving a man's life. He currently also holds a United States Merchant Marine Captain license. 

In 2004, Officer Nappe spent one year overseas in Iraq, answering the presidential call for police officers to help our troops in training the Iraqi police force. 

Officer Nappe also self-published a book of his experience called "Blessed Are the Peace Keepers" which can be found in the local Hagaman Library in East Haven.

As Chief Larrabee handed this badge of recognition to Officer Nappe, he stated to Officer Nappe it was "well deserved."
