The following is an open message from East Haven D.A.R.E. Officer Dave Torello posted via the East Haven Police Department's Facebook page.
The D.A.R.E. Bowling Fundraiser went very well on Saturday. Over 150 people showed up. Everyone had a good time.
Daren the lion greeted the kids who also received free prizes, over $1,000 in raffle prizes given out, there was glow bowling, 7 highest score D.A.R.E. plaques were given out, D.A.R.E. songs and essay cover videos displayed, and interesting fun bowling extras were added in.
I want to thank everyone who went and/or supported the program with donations or sponsorships. For this event, about $1,900 was raised...and last week, almost $250 was raised during the 5th grade D.A.R.E. graduations.
Great job everyone!...and thanks for your support of the D.A.R.E. program! Thanks to Gary Smith (the bowling alley GM) and his employees for all their help and support.
Thanks also to the members of our police department who came there to help out and support this event. Together, we support this great program and especially the children and families of our town. Thank you all sincerely!
