Two men are facing charges after they allegedly robbed and assaulted a Sutton Towers resident early Sunday morning and then took off in a stolen car and led police on a chase before being apprehended.

At about 3 a.m. Sunday police got a report of a home invasion at the apartment complex at 760 Mix Ave., according to Hamden Police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.

Armed with a description of the suspects,  Officer Patrick McCue saw the individuals fleeing the scene in a stolen Nissan northbound on Mix Avenue, Smith said.

"Officers pursued the stolen vehicle to Bailey Road in North Haven, where a motor vehicle stop was conducted," Smith said in a release Monday. "After further investigation, the operator of the vehicle, David Miller, and passenger, Anibal Bruno were arrested. Officers located a weapon inthe vehicle, as well as a stolen television and cell phone."

Officers learned that the victim who lives at Sutton Towers, invited the two men to his home, Smith said, and "once inside, Bruno punched him in the head and then held a knifeto his throat. They then stole his belongings."

The victim, 52, was treated at the scene by Hamden Fire Rescue for a head injury, Smith said.

Miller, 51, of 621 Whalley Ave., New Haven, was charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, second-degree larceny, fifth-degree larceny, weapons in a motor vehicle, engaging an officer in pursuit and conspiracy.

Bruno, 34, of 55 Mesina Drive, East Haven, was charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, second-degree larceny, fifth-degree larceny, weapons in a motor vehicle and conspiracy.

East Haven Police also served two outstanding warrants on Bruno, Smith said.

Both were held in lieu of $50,000 bond and are scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on May 13.
