East Haven Man Charged After Motor Vehicle Stop

Suspect allegedly had pills and brass knuckles in his car, according to police.

An East Haven man was arrested Thursday after a motor vehicle stop led to the discovery of brass knuckles.

At about 5 p.m. Officer Mark Gery of the Hamden Police Department pulled over a car in the area of Whitney and Park avenues with defective equipment, according to police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith. 

When Gery searched the car, he found the brass knuckles and two bottles of pills, Smith said.

Frederick Mills, 25, of 275 Russo Ave., East Haven, was charged with weapons in a motor vehicle, failure to keep narcotics in the original container, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, operating without insurance, improper turn and defective tail light.

Mills posted $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on April 23.
