East Haven Animal Control Investigating Death of Neglected Dog

Sunshine the dog has died after her acute medical issues were ignored for months.

A release from the East Haven Animal Shelter:

We are asking for the public's help in identifying the owner of this dog.

We named her Sunshine, and she was found on the East Haven/New Haven border and brought in by a good samaritan. Sunshine was severely emaciated and it looks like she was also used for breeding.

Unfortunately, at some point Sunshine ate something which caused an obstruction and it was in her intestines for at least two months, during which time she was not able to eat and she was wasting away. Due to the severity of her condition, and despite the best efforts of our vet hospital, Sunshine didn't make it.

We hope to find the owner of this poor sweet girl to find out why she was never treated and in the end, she was discarded like trash. If you recognize her or have any information please contact Officer Little at (203) 468-3249. We hope to get some justice for this girl.
