East Haven Firefighters Raise Funds for Breast Cancer Research

East Haven Firefighters Local 1205 raised several hundred dollars for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. And the union's pink t-shirts for the fundraising drive will soon be available to the general public!

President Joseph Ciscone presented a check of $500 to Anne Morris, executive director of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Connecticut

The members of the union purchased t-shirts with pink lettering and the breast cancer ribbon logo on them. And, with the cooperation of East Haven Fire Chief Douglas Jackson, each shift wore these shirts on duty for one day in October in honor of and to hep riase breast cancer awareness.

Several members of the union have had friends and family members affected by breast cancer, the firefighters said.

The $500 came from the difference in the actual shirt cost and what the shirts were purchased for, they said.

In addition, union officials said that because of the high demand for the shirts they have designed a similiar shirt that will be available to the general public soon.
