East Haven Fire Prevention Poster Winners
Mikayla Cretella and Jordan Mason are East Haven's winners for this year's Connecticut Fire Prevention Poster Contest. The two will now compete at the state level.
East Haven's local winners for the Connecticut Fire Prevention Poster Contest will soon have their work exhibited at the State Capitol in Hartford, as the two move on to compete against other winners from across the state.
East Haven Fire Marshal Moscato announced that Mikayla Cretella from Momauguin School was the fifth grade winner, her teacher is Mrs. Raccio, and Jordan Mason from Ferrara School was the fourth grade winner, whose teacher is Mrs. Minickene.
The two local winners will each receive a $100 savings bond.
The students were honored with an award presentation at in on Tuesday, March 6 at 3:30 p.m. The presentation was be taped for airing on the .

State Competition
Both winners were submitted for judging on the county level. A state winner will be chosen from the county winners. The state winner will be used to promote fire prevention throughout the Connecticut, and their winning work will serve as the official state poster.
All winning posters on the county level will be exhibited at the State Capitol during the month of October. The county winners will be awarded $200 savings bonds, and the state winner will receive a $1,000 savings bond.

This Connecticut Fire Prevention Poster Contest is a cooperative effort of the Office of State Fire Marshal, the Connecticut State Fire Marshal’s Association, Connecticut Fire Chief’s Association, State Board of Education, and the Connecticut Fair Plan (representing the insurance industry).

Fire Marshal Moscato thanks the following individuals and civic organizations for their assistance with this contest, local bond sponsor East Haven Firefighters Local 1205, Judges Kathy Dennis and Diane Reynolds, also the East Haven School Administrators, and teachers for their participation.
Thanks are also given to all of the fourth and fifth grade students for their enthusiastic participation in this important Connecticut Fire Prevention Awareness Program. There were many wonderful posters entered and the judges had a difficult time choosing.
