East Haven Fire Department Receives Fire Prevention Grant

The East Haven Fire Department has received a $2,000 fire prevention grant that will help boost its fire prevention efforts in the community, according to Fire Marshal Anthony Moscato.

The department received the grant from the Norwalk-based FM Global, one of the world's largest commercial property insurers, during a recent presentation at the fire company's headquarters on Main Street.

"The award will be used to assist with fire prevention activities in the community to help educate the community and reduce the number of fires," Moscato stated in a press release.

Moscato said a local small business has teamed up with the department to help in its community fire prevention efforts.
"Goody's Hardware Store in East Haven has graciously assisted with our grant application in providing a cost savings for the purchase of smoke detectors by the department," Moscata said.
He added the detectors will be used to assist low and moderate income families to protect themselves with early warning.
