East Haven Cop Involved In Head-On Crash That Left Man Hospitalized

The East Haven police officer was off-duty and the full police report on the accident has not yet been released.

An off-duty East Haven police officer was involved in a head-on collision last week that sent another man to the hospital.

On Thursday afternoon, East Haven Police Officer Scott Carignan was driving to the police department to begin his shift when he got into a head-on crash with another resident on North High Street, according to the New Haven Register. Carignan was treated for his injuries and is recovering, but the other driver in the accident - Robert Speers, an East Haven man - is still hospitalized, according to the Register.

The full report of what caused the accident is not yet complete, according to the New Haven Register. Carignan is expected to return to work next week, according to the Register.
