East Haven Among Those in 341st Recruit Class of POST

More than 50 officers from towns all over the state, including East Haven, recently graduated from the Police Officers Standards and Training Council (POST)

The Police Officer Standards and Training Council (POST) announced the graduation of Recruit Class #341.  The class of 50 Police Officers, representing 29 departments from across the state, recently completed their 23 week training program.

A graduation ceremony was held at Central Connecticut State University’s Welte Auditorium in New Britain on Sept. 11.

The class roster consisted of police officers representing police departments in East Haven, as well as Guilford, Wallingford, Old Saybrook, Shelton, and Orange, among other towns and at state universities. 

The recruits underwent intensive daily training at the Connecticut Police Academy, focusing on Connecticut Penal Code, Laws of Arrest, Search and Seizure, Motor Vehicle Law, Constitutional Law, Juvenile Procedures, Domestic Violence, Medical Response Technician, Firearms, Defensive Tactics, Handcuffing, Criminal Investigation, Interview and Interrogation, Suspect Identification, Crime Scene Response, Conflict Management and a host of shorter topics.

Their curriculum also included several days of practical skills training such as Accident Investigation, Directing Traffic and Responding to various scenarios.
