Community Benefit for East Haven Firefighter

East Haven resident Joe Lauria, a volunteer firefighter for more than 30 years, has been battling pancreatic cancer. And the community is coming together June 16 to lend a helping hand.

For more than 30 years, Joe Lauria has been an active volunteer with the .

Over the last year, however, the East Haven resident has been in an ongoing battle with pancreatic cancer.

Last year, his fellow firefighters ran a "" for Lauria, "and with the love and support he received," EHFD member Joe Ciscone said.

Recent Setback

Recently, however, Lauria has had a severe setback with his battle. Ciscone said this had led to the firefighter once again being out of work and with no income.

And so department members are inviting community members to join together at a benefit for Lauria on June 16, in order to lend a helping hand to a public servant and volunteer in his time of need.

"We are asking everyone to once again come out and help a great man, father, husband and friend to assist his family with their mounting financial needs and above all put Joey’s mind at ease so he can focus on beating this disease," Ciscone said.

Event Information

The community benefit will take place Saturday, June 16, at the , from 2 to 8 p.m.

There will be burgers, hot dogs, sides and soda. A 50/50 raffle will be held during the event, as well as teacup raffles.

Tickets are $25 for adults, and $15 for children 10 and younger.
