Shoreline Man Accused of Sexually Assaulting Minor in Windsor

Police allege that David Kone of Branford — who was previously accused of risk of injury to a minor in 2009 in Madison — assaulted a close friend's son.

Windsor Police charged a Branford man awaiting trial on charges related to an incident in Madison with sexually assaulting a minor. David H. Kone, 47, allegedly molested the son of a female friend who lives part-time in Windsor with her fiancé.

The alleged incident isn't Kone's first brush with the law.

According to court documents, Kone was listed on the federal sex offender registry until 2012 after child pornography found on his computer, and he currently has an open case in Madison, where he was charged with risk of injury to a minor for an incident that occurred in August 2009. This case is currently awaiting a jury trial in New Haven Superior Court.

The minor in the Madison case said that Kone would walk around the house naked and take showers with him.

In the new case, according to court documents, the child’s mother notified Windsor Police after her son, who is described as having been diagnosed with autism, told her that Kone had been touching his penis.

In an interview with police, the woman described Kone as a family friend who would frequently visit her homes in Windsor and Massachusetts for "family time," during which Kone would have dinner, watch movies and spend the night.

It was during "family time" — while watching a movie and while holding the boy before bedtime — that Kone allegedly molested the child.

The mother and son, whose identities have not been released, discussed Kone's actions after she allegedly witnessed Kone kiss her son with an open mouth.

Kone has been charged with three counts of fourth-degree sexual assault and three counts of risk of injury to a child, according to his arrest warrant. The assaults allegedly took place on multiple occasions.

Kone was released after posting a $200,000 bond and he is scheduled to appear next in superior court on Aug. 23 at which time he could enter a plea.
