Shoreline Car Theft Arrest: East Haven Police Assist in Investigation

North Branford Police arrested Aaron Ainslie on Monday as a suspect in a rash recent of thefts from unlocked motor vehicles along Foxon and Totoket roads.

assisted in a North Branford Police Department investigation that led to the arrest of suspect in a recent run of area car thefts.

In early May 2012, the responded to numerous vehicle burglaries along Foxon Road and Totoket Road, which occurred during the early morning hours.  

The suspect entered unlocked motor vehicles and took anything of value including electronics, tools, gift cards, loose change, wallets and credit cards.

Several credit cards were used at Wal-Mart in New Haven and Lowe's in New Haven.

With the use of in-store video surveillance, North Branford Police's detective division — with the help of the East Haven Police Department — identified the suspect as 36-year old Aaron Ainslie.

A warrant was applied for Ainslie who was arrested on Aug. 6 and charged with seven counts of burglary and fifth-degree larceny.

Ainslie was unable to post a $25,000 bond and will be arraigned today at New Haven court (G.A 23).
