Another Shooting in Southern Hamden

One man is in the hospital, and police believe a teen is responsible.

Police are looking for who they believe is a male curly-haired teenager who is responsible for a shooting Wednesday night that sent a Dixwell Avenue man to the hospital.

At about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday police got the report of an altercation at the intersection of Dixwell Avenue and First Street, according to Lt. Timothy Wydra.

When officers and detectives from the Major Crimes Unit got there, they found Robert Pouncey, 29, of Dixwell Avenue, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Wydra said.

The Hamden Fire Department treated and transported Pouncey to Yale-New Haven Hospital, Wydra said, and his wounds don't appear life-threatening.

A police K-9 was brought in but was unsuccessful in tracking a suspect, who is thought to b a black male, 15-18 years old with curly hair. He was riding a bicycle at the time of the shooting, Wydra said. Police are still unsure of a motive for the shooting, he said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Angelo Polzella at 203-230-4048.

How many shootings does that make in the last few weeks...3? 4? There are serious problems in southern Hamden that need to be addressed. Meanwhile, people are getting hurt and killed. Very sad.

This is what happens when town administrators kiss the butt of the NAACP. The kid Brown had more gun arrests in a few years than the rest of the cops combined had in their careers probably. It's shameful that this kid is being messed with instead of having his own street unit.

Just imagine if the Woodin St fence were to come down and they were to forcefully intersect southern Hamden with the New Haven doldrums. Fight for your neighborhoods residents! Gov't cares nothing for you, your family and the protection of your property.

replace them vote them out- Kennelly has been in politics forever. Just because you're a democrat doesn't mean you have to vote party all the time. Just vote them out. Not saying it will be any better but wouldn't you like to find out?
