Still Going Strong, I See

What Has This Town Come To?

Things never change much in this town. For about the past week I have been on the Patch looking around as well as in town and the stuff I see and hear is outrageous... Why can't we all get along? It saddens me to see the way Democrats go after Republicans and Republican go after Democrats. Now, everyone claims that they have the towns best interests at heart and I will be as bold as to say if you have said that, you are probabaly lying. There are Dems that will workd with Reps and there are Reps that will work with Dems. Therefore, there is no reason why we can't all get along. I have prided myself in saying I get along with Republicans without a problem, I am a registered Democrat. I will talk to Republicans, ask their opinions on certain topics, work together. This is because I TRULY CARE about the well being and best interests of this town. I will cross party lines to support what I believe in- a better education system, for one. Party affilation means absolutely nothing to me in the long run because just as there are good Dems and Reps, there are bad ones.

On the Patch and in town I have seen comments to others in town that are horrible, rude, sad, things to say to any person and it actually is on the edge of cyber bullying. I have heard comments in town about others in town and I just shake my head and walk away. I ask again, why can't we all get along? There is NO reason for it. And please, do not comment and say, "It's the Dems" or "It's the Reps" because honestly, its both and for that reason, I am sad to say I am a citizen of the town of East Haven. Get your stuff together if you want to make this town better, all of ya.

I encourage comments! Lets get a dicussion going about how to make the town better and also, please tell me if my blogging is semi-informative because if people like my blogging, I will continue to do so. Thanks!

Patrick, Sadly there will always be people seeking to aggrandize themselves by aligning themselves with noble causes and showing no concearn for the people or beings those causes purport to assist. Hypocrites will always be among us. Typically, democrats tend to be the more altrusistic of the two parties while republicans are usually apathetic and self centered beyond belief. I truly believe that President Obama cares about the folks on the ground or else I would not have voted for him. In contrast, I don't believe that Mitt Romney is capable of real empathy or compassion.

Perhaps you feel that way because as a white straight male, you don't have nearly as much at stake. Talk to a woman or a gay person or a senior citizen then tell me how important it is that Republicans (and their obstruction) are stopped. There is no getting along since they declared war in 2010.

And why must Republicans be stopped? I'm just asking because I'm a white woman.
CAjones October 22, 2012 at 07:23 PM
@Lise, my guess is unless you are a gay white woman your inquiry is moot. According to this neophyte.
Lise Cavallaro October 22, 2012 at 07:30 PM
Nope, not gay.

Paul, you are very rude. I'm speaking about East Haven only, first of all. Second of all, do not lecture to me about what is at stake. I'm a registered democrat and will be supporting President Obama in November. Once again, I am speaking about only East Haven.

Patrick, I agree with you. If we could all just think about the Town and stop pointing fingers, we could move foward. I wish I knew how to do that but I don't know how. Local politics has nothing to do with National matters. We as people need to take care of our own Town. A lot of East Haven people have great ideas, but can't get anyone in power to listen. Too much fighting among the parties. We will destroy our own Town because of it. I do hope it gets better. I tried my best on the BOE but had a real hard time making any real changes. Right now I am just tring to fill seats on the Casino bus trip for Marks scholarship fund. Still have a lot of seats to sell. Trip is just 12 days away.

Frankly after viewing the documentary 2016, I would think we should do all we can to stop Obama, with his dangerous agenda. Unless weak and socialist is where you see the USA, we need to get him OUT!
