How Are Our Public Officials Doing?

My opinion of our public officials

In the past two or three weeks I have been doing research on almost all of our public officials. I have checked into their voting record, attendence, and other minor details to see how I would rate them. I then decided to rate each official on my opinion of their performance. Therefore, these numbers are my approval ratings of each official. I stress that this is my opinion.

United States Senator Richard Blumenthal- 95%

Governor Malloy-85%

President Obama- 85%

Representative Delauro- 80%

Mayor Maturo- 80-85%

Senator Fasano/Representative Albis- 75-80%

United States Senator Lieberman- 60%

For the few that have a range of numbers that means I was unable to come up with an exact number due to lack of information or an erray of other reasons.

If anyone has any questions regarding any of the reasons I gave certain people a certain percentage, please ask and I will glady give my reasoning for that.

Interesting Patrick,...I'd like to see the same sort of thing done for members of the current Town Council. Are you up to it?
Maggie Mae December 04, 2012 at 07:11 PM
Hoff, why are you so vindictive? You only have ONE thing on your mind, hate the REPUBLICANS!!!! You are not fair to the voters of EH, you are one sided.
Richard Poulton December 04, 2012 at 07:25 PM
I am sure Patrick put in a lot of effort & time in doing his research. Yes, and he will agree, it is by no means scientific. Interesting numbers though. And then we have Hoff making his comment. I want to know if he would ask the same question of the (D) controlled TC under the last administration or is it just his interest in this (R) controlled TC that bugs him. And he wants to represent the people in his district. Might as well put a blind fold on him for what ever comes down the road (D) he will except and vote for no matter what it would be. Just toe the party line.

These are a perfect example of questions from someone who might assault a family member. Anyone who may have a criminal past, sealed or otherwise. Also assorted "outlaws" like Josy Wales, for example. Good job young Patrick.

Yesterday in commenting about the "pool", Hoff countered a comment I made on why is every story line turned into a political free for all fight. He commented back that I was the cause of all this with the comments I make. I challange him to produce one such comment, other then one directed at either himslef or Mr. Ruocco, for whom I still have respect for. We disagree politically but I still have respect for him. Mr. Hoff, at least as far back as the Patch will take me (April 13th), has authored no less than 39 articles. Mostly about himsleft and the wonderfull things he has done. The others are so far one sided politically it's to the point of sickening. Mr. Hoff is extremely politcally biased he should never be elected to office. Talk about someone filled with self-gratification and platitudes. He should really take a second look at what he writes and the cause such has as to how people respond to what he has to say. A good example is right above.

Maggie May, With all due respect I do not "Hate" the Republicans some of my best friends are Republicans as a matter of fact little known fact I voted for Mayor Maturo when he ran against former Mayor Hank Luzzi.

Richard, I sure would ask the same question I believe that accountability goes along way and if you are an elected official you are accountable for showing up and giving your best effort when your respective meetings are held regardless of which side of the political fence you may be on. The bottom line is as an elected offical you owe it to the residents of East Haven to do the very best you can for them. If you cannot do your best at something then why commit yourself to that task. The residents of East Haven deserve the very best from their elected officials and should be put first not the political gamesmanship that has held this town back for far too long.
Anne December 04, 2012 at 09:47 PM
Hoff, you apparently don't work all day.....why don't you do it?
Beth December 04, 2012 at 09:50 PM
Patrick, Interesting perspective. i would respectfully have to disagree with your ratings on Obama and Malloy--not just because their Democrats. Obama should maybe closer to 40-50% (based on the "state" of the country) and Malloy clearly (with a 400M+ deficit) should be at about 25%.
Beth December 04, 2012 at 09:51 PM
their should be "they're"...sorry
Robert D. Hoff - Working for a better East Haven December 04, 2012 at 09:56 PM
Anne, If you are refering to the item Patrick created I have nothing but respect for Patrick and thought that he might want to follow up on this as he did list Representative Albis in it I thought he might be kind enough to take a look at the different elected positions here in town such as Board of Finance,Board Of Education and The Town Council. I would be interested to see his views on these elected officals. If you are refering to my becoming an elected official I thank you for asking and as of last night I threw my name into the mix as a candidate for Town Council to represent the residents living in East Haven's Third District. I welcome any thoughts you may have and look forward to many positive discussions that will produce results for the residents of East Haven.

Why is it on another posting it was reported you were not at the meeting of the DTC? And again, would you be asking the same questions of a domcratic controlled town council as you did above in referring to this current TC? Would you, I doubt it.
Patrick Madley December 05, 2012 at 02:34 AM
I will admit that I have very little interest in the Town Council and for that reason, I will not do one on the Town Council. I will leave that up to someone who has more interest in that subject matter. I am quite surprised no one commented on the fact that I did this in a bipartisan way and rated Democrats and Republicans as though they did not have a party.
Luigi (the original) December 05, 2012 at 10:24 AM
Patrick, I noticed that your rating survey of politicians was indeed not biased toward any party affiliation. It is refreshing to read something done in such a manner. My only concern is how criteria for each rating is quantified to reach these conclusions. However they were reached, you should be applauded for your efforts. You certainly have a bright future ahead, one which many may benefit from.
