East Haven Politics at its Finest

East Haven is Getting Horrible in Politics

I know I have been blogging a bit recently but this is an extremely imprtant blog to me...

It's election time in East Haven and we all know what that means- arguments, allegations, and slander all come into play. Well, I am SICK of it. Why can't the democrats and republicans get along for once? Each side says that they have the best interest of the town at heart but do they really? It is constant bashing of Mayor Maturo, the chairmen of the DTC or RTC, and even ctizens who state their views here on the Patch. But here is the thing...We ll makes mitakes, don't we? Isn't that what makes us human? So why can't we just leave whats in the past, in the past. Why do people need to bash Mayor Maturo over a comment he made about, oh I do not know, 8-10 months ago? Why must people harrass and bother the chairmen of the DTC and RTC? Because they represent their party and may be outspoken at times? Look, I get that this cirticism comes with the territory but enough is enough. Our political figures in town, some, not all need to grow up a little. I will not name names but I ENCOURAGE any reader to please name names and examples when they comment so we can actually see the truth. I am a registered Democrat and I will admit that but one, I do not and will not go around bashing the Republicans in town. Heck, I'll even be voting for a few next November. Two, it is tiring... and annoying. I will go against my party if I have to because unlike many people, I actually care about this town. At this rate we may as well wipe the entire slate clean and vote in Jacobo, Luigi, and myself (Not an insult guys just using you as an example). At least we all would be new and possibly help the town more than the people who constantly insult everything in town. So please, comment!!!!!

I say Jacobo runs for mayor and Richard you should honestly run for something too. It would be a breath of fresh air!
Richard Poulton October 11, 2012 at 10:15 PM
Not a bad idea, but how do you over come the party faithfull. Without endorsement of either the RTC or DTC you would need a third party involvement. And in EH that would never work. As I said above, you have those that would vote for a marsh mellow if the party told them to. There's the problem. There are those that will goose-step right behind who they are told to follow.
Rosie October 11, 2012 at 11:48 PM
Here, young Patrick, I totally agree with you! I am also a registered Democrat, but will not be voting that way in this very important election coming up. I just can't bear to watch the country I love go down the Obama tubes. But, unfortunately, in this town, people are compelled to vote ONLY with the party they are registered to....even if it means it's not good for the town or the country. Too many hidden agenda's on both sides. And Mr. Poulton, I have said this before and will again, I would definately support you if you ever ran for office. You are one of the very few on here that makes sense and is usually very well informed and correct. You would have my vote for sure.
Peter T. Cianelli October 12, 2012 at 03:18 AM
Excellent Blog Patrick..... we need more young people such as yourself to step up to the plate to lead our Town, State, & Country into the future.... Many years ago the EH Dems & Rebs would knock each other around at town meetings and after the meetings we would all go out for coffee and joke around... sad to say that in today's world, some just want to throw personal attacks on those they disagree with.....
Patrick Madley October 12, 2012 at 11:48 AM
Richard, you are 100% correct. Those that vote on party lines all the time obviously do not understand they are supposed to be representing what their constituents want- not what they want. This is a major problem and we need independent thinkers and people who are not afraid to get away from their party and vote with their consciousness against the marsh mellows, so to speak. I would support you if you ran for a position, Richard. Rosie, it is unfortunate but true. Too many hidden agendas but unfortunately good people won't run against the ones who have these agendas. Have you considered running? And Pete, you are not the first one who told me a story about how dems and reps used to get along. The way I see it, no reason why we shouldn't. Honestly, other than political issues I hold nothing personal against republicans so no need not to get along after the voting is over etc. my point is everyone, we need new people to run for office and I will support who I deem best whether that be a democrat or a republican.

Nice to see someone so young care, Thank you Patrick. Now to party lines I am and will always be a Democrat and never cared who liked it or not. One thing I would love to see in the future, The case of the Town loaded with Political Lawn Signs, please understand i have put up many over the years, but this is something that needs to change. The Town should find maybe four spots for all signs from all Candidates, from any Party. Then the money spent on Signs they can together write a check to the local Food Bank. The mailings are better then any lawn sign. Plus it makes the Town look like ---------. But I am only dreaming this will most likely never get done.

You could not pay me to vote for Poulton. He and the Dan McCan, Daria Novak crowd are the most dishonest, out to lunch, clique I have ever had the displeasure of knowing.
Out_to_lunch October 13, 2012 at 05:20 PM
These are the sort of folks who would read your e-mail, run over your cat, key your car, leave tire tracks in your yard and poison the chipmunks, just to see you frown.
Richard Poulton October 13, 2012 at 05:37 PM
OH boy we have a new player, hiding behind a fake name making up accusations, accusing people of being dishonest, etc... Well I would like him to break such accusations down. But he isn't even brave enough to ID himself. Coward. I bet he wouldn't even say these things to our faces either. Again just another coward.
Richard half of the the posters on this site use pseudo identites so your point is what?
Bully October 13, 2012 at 06:50 PM
Richard would like to leave some tire tracks in the yard of the person who dared to offend him. Lol!
Verigated October 13, 2012 at 07:02 PM
Poulton, you sound like a scared, desperate little boy looking for a scapegoat. Aside from being manipulative as hell, what do you have to offer an impresionable young man seeking to expand his world view?
Richard Poulton October 13, 2012 at 08:41 PM
Robert, we are miles apart on politics but I have always commented you and others for using real names. Not hiding in the shadows.
Richard Poulton October 13, 2012 at 08:44 PM
Bully, another coward wishing to attack people using a phony screen name. By the way what you suggest is against the law. And to that other special person, most likely like you, I am scared of no man. And can you break down your other accusations for me?
Richard Poulton October 13, 2012 at 08:49 PM
And you had the "displeaure" of knowing me? Well maybe if you came forward from the shadows and give all of us your name it may ring a bell or is this another attempt of a certain political group getting together to bash somebode. Too much of a coincidence. And Hoff we have never met so how can your agree?
LS October 13, 2012 at 09:53 PM
Patrick, great blog and you make great points. But you fail to see the big picture. Watch this movie when you have free time. Whether you agree or not it will at the minimum open your eyes and make you ask more questions. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VebOTc-7shU&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Patrick Madley October 14, 2012 at 12:14 AM
Thank you for your input, LS. But unfortunately I don't have 2 and a half hours to watch that video. However, I appreciate your opinion

Patrick Madley October 14, 2012 at 01:05 AM
What are you? A sheep?
Crock October 14, 2012 at 01:44 AM
LS is propoganda spewing, Pravda reading, supporter of dishonest extreemist republican garbage. Of course you don't see Poulton here demanding to know 'her' real identity.

ASmith.... trolls are sad people, living their lonely lives vicariously through those they see as strong and successful.Disrupting a stable newsgroup gives the illusion of power, just as for a few, stalking a strong person allows them to think they are strong, too. For trolls, like yourself, any response is 'recognition'; you are unable to distinguish between irritation and admiration; your ego grows directly in proportion to the response, regardless of the form or content of that response. Trolls, rather surprisingly, dispute this, claiming that it's a game or joke; how sad do you have to be to find such mind-numbingly trivial timewasting to be funny? Remember that trolls are COWARDS.; they'll usually post just enough to get an argument going, then sit back and count the responses (Yes, that's what they do!). Troll - Angler or Underbridge Dweller?

With the November elections right around the corner, and for those really interested in what our federal elected officials in WDC have been doing these last years, there are 3 great web sights that follow votes, donated money aleigned to votes, the whole ball of wax so to say. www.govtrack.us www.opencongress.org www.opensecrets.org Want to get educated and learn - pick one and search. They are very intesting and easy sites to navigate.
ASmith October 16, 2012 at 12:14 PM

ASmith October 16, 2012 at 01:18 PM
now the mores I thinks about it. might have been yer missus that said the kangaroo court, it was hard to tell since ya was a both hollerin at the ole guys on the police commission and the crowd was so rowdy. so if I attributed the kangaroo court to the wrong one of yas my apologies there, but whichever of ya yelled it...it was wrong...and the way ya treated those ole fellas at that meetin...it was wrong..they was only doin their jobs. and luck at what happened now...that there fella pled guilty...so ya owes them an apology dont ya.
