Interesting! I did a three part story on this subject. Very interesting back & forth commentary. But as to the paving of the RSA's and borrowing $450,000 something doesn't add up. According to their own meeting minutes (Airport Authority) I found the cost of such was put on the record. They, again according to the minutes, need $400,000 plus dollars to first do an environmental study and after that they need 5.8 million to do what-ever is then required. This money was hopefully to come from the Government in the form of a Congressional earmark(aka Rosa and Blummie). Don't be fooled folks. As for Looney and the rest of the democrats surrounding NH politics they will never say no to this plan. Maybe paving will allow travel to better places then Philly, and who in Gods name would want to go to Detroit. Get me to Fla non-stop and we will talk. Good luck to the people living on the shoreline.

Hello Richard, the Tweed saga continues. Just a few points, Florida can be reached via one connection by any of the major hubs on the east coast, Philadelphia, Washington, and Charlotte. If non-stop service to Florida were to occur, it would probably be Allegiant with 2 to 3 weekly flights. As far as Detroit, I agree it is not on my list of places to visit, but for Delta, it is a well connected hub airport with connecting flights to the west coast and the far east. As far as the paving allowing more service, its more than a maybe, the current runway stands in the way of more service and the Usairways fleet of Dash-8's in declining with no replacements in the pipeline.

The Expansion of the Airport is called "Progress" not "Regress." The Airport was there long before many of those surrounding homes were built.

Good morning Magdalen. Yes, you are right progress is good. Few questions though. Do you live near Tweed? Are you familiar with the Master Plan for Tweed? I have no problems with this paving program. It will not take the airport beyond its current southern property line. What does disturb me is the out-right lying by the airport, NH officials, and the politicians involved in that MOA and NEW State statute. They new then what was to happen and lied to everyone, especially those living in EH near the airport. I said it then this would happen and everyone said no it can't happen. WE have the MOA and NEW statute to protect us. Ya Right! This was just a stall tactic knowling all along this paving would happen. Thats what makes me sick. Maybe if they just came out and said to EH go stick it because an airport can do what it wants as long as it happens between the lines. Why do you think they (NH) paid that 1.5 million for the swamp, the land was needed to allow for future expansion. Capone saw a quick way to fix her budget. Progress is good, but just for once I want a politician to tell the thruth, but can't have that can we. I suggest you get a copy of the "Master Plan" and take a good look at phase four. But OH no that will never happen will it?

Just to educate those interested in what is happening or proposed at Tweed, I pulled 2 very nice sites for viewing. One is the PDF of the UConn study incorporating the Master Plan, dated Feb 2002. Pages 1 - 3 is all one needs to read. Look at www. ccea.uconn.edu/studies/tweed%20New%Haven%20Impact.pdf The second PDF was dated may 2002, and is from the Office of Legislative Research (OLR), a division of the legislature. Look at www.cga.ct.gov/2002/rpt/2002-R-0360.htm Then look back at the bill of goods sold to EH.
