Patch's Poll: What Is the Most Difficult Age to Parent?

A New York Times article contends that parenting adult children is harder than any other age.

A recent New York Times article contends that parenting adult children is more difficult than parenting at any other age.

The opinion piece, written by Susan Engel, had 731 comments and counting as of Thursday afternoon.

It seems to have struck a chord with many parents who have seen their adult children suffer through difficult breakups, job losses and other challenging life experiences.

The author contends that it's more difficult when, as a parent, you can't do much about your children's problems. When her children were young, Engel said, she could make things better.

How about it? Has Engel forgotten about the sleep deprivation of the baby and toddler stage, or the bullying of the middle school years, or the constant worry about a new teenage driver? Or is she correct in asserting that parenting adults is the toughest challenge?

Take our poll and tell us in the comments.

I vote for "Parenting your parents". I'm not sure that's what "parenting adults" meant...God bless all those parents out there who are taking care of their elder parents now...there are so many challenges, emotions, etc.
