Follow-up to Patch Voting Story

Yesterday the Patch did a piece on voting. In reading the article one section caught my eye and reminded me of a speech made of the POTUS last month.

In the second paragraph of the Patch story, last sentence, it states: "You will need a drivers license to register on-line".  Now my point.

Obama said publically at the civil rights convention he explained his disdain for requiring a photo ID to cast a vote.  He would do everything in is power to remove such requirements from States that still require a photo ID to vote.

Go to a bank to conduct financial business what do you need?  Go for medical care what do you have to show?  Try getting on an airplane without some form of photo ID.  If I'm not wrong even getting on one of the numerous social welfare programs requires such proof.

So what's all the hullaboloo about when requiring one when voting? The political left and the supposedly minority leaders informs us that requiring such is racist and will keep minorities from casting their vote.  Their reasoning - most minorities don't drive, thus no drivers license.  So, what form of ID do they use when going for medical care or when applying for Medicaid, Section 8, SNAP or Husky, etc...?  What are they using just to get registered never mind actually voting?

If anyone wants a State authoried form of ID, not a drivers license, all they have to do is bring some of the many excepted forms of who you are to the DMV and a State issued photo ID will be issued.

Someone explain how all these so-called disenfranchised voters, who are unable to vote because they lack a proper ID, functioning in a system when everytime you turn around you need to show proof of who you are?  

Hey, I have an idea, want to vote come November or in a primary, plenty of time to go get a valid form of ID.  But will they?  The answer is NO.  Much easier to fan the flames, which is the easy way in today's world.
