I have to say I am Highly disappointed in our town's new stance on the Memorial day parade. For years I was a part of the parade first as a cub/boy scout for 10 or so years and then as a martial arts student and latter as a martial arts instructor. The Parade used to be a high point that the kids would get all excited about and have a chance to walk down main street and show off a little. This is a good thing, I heard quite a few sour grapes from elderly veterans that the day should be a somber remembrance of those who served this country and paid the ultimate sacrifice and they felt it was disgraceful for baseball teams, dance troops, martial arts students, classic cars, marching bands, and anything else that represents WHY THIS country is so great to march in their honor? I completely agree that there should be a memorial service and a moment of silence, but please tell me how ALIENATING the very things that those brave men and women gave their lives for is a slap in their face?
