Metro-North Plans Service Changes Effective July 2

New Haven Line scheduling changes will result in increased efficiency and cost savings, MTA says.

Metro-North Railroad has posted changes to its service schedule on its website, and they become effective on Monday, July 2.

According to MTA website, the planned schedule changes have been put in place to improve riders' commute and increase cost savings while construction projects continue.

Here's what the MTA website says commuters riding the New Haven line should know:

  • Waterbury branch trains will start and finish their service at the Stratford Station, not Bridgeport, from July 2 to July 22
  • Beginning July 23 and continuing through Sept. 2, Waterbury Branch busing will be availabe 24 hours a day, seven days a week while a Connecticut Department of Transportation bridge project is underway
  • Many trains running after 9 p.m. will run between 5 and 15 minutes later than scheduled while a project is completed at Mt. Vernon East and Pelham
  • The 8:59 p.m. train from Danbury to Stamford will terminate service at the South Norwalk stop. Service will continue from there with the 9:59 p.m. express to Grand Central Terminal, which will arrive in New York at eleven minutes earlier than originally scheduled at 11:03 p.m.
