Sen. Fasano Urges Thanksgiving Donations in Memory of Wallingford Football Star

Helping in the name of a local family ~

To honor the memory of a local Wallingford man whose life was cut short three years ago, State Sen. Len Fasano today urged area residents to do what they can to donate frozen turkeys, Thanksgiving items such as stuffing, and canned non-perishable goods to Masters Manna, 46 North Plains Industrial Road Wallingford.

Fasano urged the community to make donations in memory of Ralph Pepe Jr., the 22-year old son of Barbara Luzzi Pepe who was fatally stabbed in 2009 at Mario's Café in Waterbury, where he worked as a bouncer.

Pepe's death came as a shock to friends, family and others in Wallingford, where he was known for his love of football. A varsity football player for much of his four years at Sheehan High School, he had always dreamed of having a shot at the NFL.

"This week is about giving thanks and giving back," Sen. Fasano said. "The Pepe family wants us all to smile and remember the good in life no matter how hard things become. What better way to pay tribute to a young man who had so much energy and so much passion who was taken away from his family too soon? The need for donations is growing each week.
