Here is a bit of numismatic (i.e., coin-related) trivia: Mint marks are letters that denote at which mint a given coin was actually produced. Throughout our nation's history, there have been various mints located across the United States, often overlapping in terms of time period. Some of these mints include Philadelphia, Denver, San Francisco, New Orleans, Carson City, Dahlonega, Charlotte, and West Point. Not all mints were in operation at all times, nor at the same time. Furthermore, not all mints produced all types of U.S. coins in circulation at any given time. Go online and read some of the excellent articles available for FREE at www.wikipedia.org!
