50th Anniversary of the CT Irish Festival

June 23rd and 24th mark the 50th Anniversary of the CT Irish Festival. Information on the festival can be found at http://ctirishfestival.com/ as well as these postings.

The 50th Anniversary of the CT Irish Festival, arguably the longest running such event in the country, is quickly approaching. This year’s Festival will be June 23rd and 24th.

For two days the North Haven Fairground becomes a wee bit of Ireland featuring the best in Irish music, dance, athletics and cultural activities.  It is a family friendly event with a free Irish magic show and complimentary professional face painting among the attractions.

New this year is an exhibition Gaelic Football game between FDNY and NYPD and a “Battle of the Bravest” Tug of War for bragging rights among area Fire Departments.

Entry fees for the Tug of War will be donated to the Leary Firefighter Foundation founded by Dennis Leary when his cousin and a childhood friend perished in the Worcester cold storage fire.

There will be food and drink offerings for all ages and appetites.  Follow us at http://www.ctirishfestival.com and on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/pages/CT-Irish-Festival/181027135276724.

On future postings I will discuss some of the activities that will take place at the festival.

I went to this last year and it was outstanding. The range of music was just incredible. Everything from the old Celtic, traditional music to the newer, not-your-father's Iriish music made for a pretty rollickin' & rockin' good time. I brought the kids and they danced all day and into the night. So, on ths particular weekend, this is the place to be. I'm surely not gonna miss it., and I'm not Irish.

I had family visit from out of town to attend a Little League game down by the beach. They justRead More loved the entire area, especially the splash pad and the Sandpiper. It made me stop, look around and appreciate how fortunate we are in East Haven to have such a great place for so many activities.

I'm disappointed with the new format. Doesn't seem to be very user friendly.

It's probably the same punks who broke into our cars over on Mansfield Grove AGAIN.... the policeRead More think its a bunch of teenagers because they take little things that are not of much value in any cars that arent locked..and are also doing things like slashing tires, etc all over town. They got into my car the same night! Hope you find your scooter
