East Haven United's First Project Focuses On "Back to School"

...and their first goal is to help needy East Haven kids get ready for back-to-school with new school materials.

A message from East Haven United:

East Haven United is a new non-profit group formed by members of Old Stone Church and St. Vincent de Paul Church to help promote a greater atmosphere of unity within our town.

It is our hope to bring together diverse people from throughout the town to make East Haven a better place to live.

Our first project is to collect back packs and all the materials that students need to succeed in school for distribution to those who cannot afford that expense.

We are collecting:

Writing utensils: pens, pencils, crayons, colored pencils, pencil cases, rulers

Loose leaf notebooks, spiral bound notebooks, lined paper, page dividers, pocket folders, calculators, assignment calendars, flash drives

Back packs must be sturdy and well-made to last a year of school.

Supplies and donations may be dropped off at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Old Stone Church, St. Clare’s Church, and the East Haven Police Department. (Checks should be made payable to Old Stone Church or St. Vincent de Paul church with Back Pack written in the notation line.)

Anyone who has ideas for further projects or would like to be involved in making East Haven shine, please attend our next meeting on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at St. Vincent de Paul Parish Center.
