A Benefit For One Of East Haven's Family And Friend

Robert "Bob" Alsever passed away on June 19 leaving behind his wife and son and a host of financial struggles related to his illness.

A benefit for the Alsever Family is planned for Friday, July 26, from 6pm-10pm at the East Haven Senior Center on Taylor Avenue.

According to chairperson Michelle Petroccio, Bob (Robert) Alsever passed on June 19 from liver cancer after being diagnosed only seven short weeks earlier.

"His untimely passing and unfortunate health circumstances have left his wife Carole and their son, Skyler, virtually in financial turmoil," said Petroccio. "Over the last four years, Bob and Carole gave tirelessly of themselves to the East Haven High School Yellow Jacket Marching Band."

The benefit will feature a DJ, raffle, silent auction, dinner, beverages and desserts.

Special events include:

  • A raffle with many great prizes and a silent auction with pieces from Major League Baseball greats such as Bucky Dent, Hector Posada, Bobby Valentine and an autographed baseball from Riviera of the Yankees, who is retiring this year.
  • NFL Memorabilia from Super Bowl Champions such as Three Time Champ, Joe Andruzzi and Joe Flacco from the Baltimore Ravens.
  • Special tee-shirts have been donated for sale by Forsa Sports and are available in large and extra large for $10. A photo of the tee-shirt is attached to this article.

Tickets for the benefit are available at the door, however, any tickets purchased ahead of time are greatly appreciated for food planning and seating purposes.

Tickets are $10 for children ten years of age and under and $15 for adults. Bring single dollar bills, your check books and healthy appetites!   All proceeds will go to The Alsever Family.

Petroccio would like to give special thanks to Samantha Parlato, Paula Bascilicato, Elise Palmer, Becki Pastor and Gina Falt for all of their hard work, time and dedication. She gives thanks to everyone who has shared the benefit on Facebook, and through word of mouth, especially Clem Laurello and Gary DePalma. And also thanks the volunteers and everyone who donated raffle and auction items, Jeff Forsa for the tee-shirt donations, and all of the local businesses who are pitching in with food, beverage and dessert assistance.

Checks should be made to the "Alsever Family Fund." Anyone wishing to make a donation to the family who cannot attend the benefit may do so by sending a check to:
