Curly Hair Care Tips

Curly Hair Care Tips from Gene Allen's Hair Studio~ 400 Coe Ave, East Haven

Curly Hair Care:
Use a shampoo that doesn’t lather or make suds. Lather can add frizz or cause dryness. Try a shampoo made for curly hair, they should lather less or not at all. We suggest TiGi Curlesque Shampoo.
Be gentle! Don’t scrub hair vigorously while washing. Gingerly massage shampoo through hair instead, paying special attention to the ends.
Shampoo your hair no... more than twice per week, excess shampooing can add static and frizz to curls.
Condition hair every day. Apply conditioner to wet hair, comb through, and do not rinse thoroughly. The little bit of conditioner that remains makes curly hair more manageable when you style it and helps keep in the moisture.

Styling Tip:

Using a flat iron on your curly hair can be damaging, however, there are ways to lessen the damage.
What I suggest is to first apply TiGi Fast Fix Style Spray to wet hair and distribute through the hair. Then take a small amount of both Tigi Blow Out Balm and Tigi
Defining Serum and rub them together in your hands and work that through your hair.
... Blow dry your hair tho...roughly, then flat iron. Your flat iron should be set on a medium setting. When you run your hair through the flat iron, take smaller sections of hair and use quicker strokes. This will greatly reduce the amount of heat damage done to your hair.

We will continue our tips for curly hair tomorrow...

Thanks, Gene
