New Haven Farms will be hosting a fall luminary event at Edgerton Park Carriage House in New Haven on Saturday, November 10, 2012 from 5-7 pm. The event will celebrate New Haven Farms first season of the Fresh Produce Prescription Program, which brought at-risk Fair Haven residents together to grow their own organic produce and improve their health.

Come and enjoy a candlelit night with light fare, music and libations at the beautiful Edgerton Park Carriage House. Tickets are $30 per person or $50 for two, in advance of the event, or $35 at the door, and can be purchased a www.newhavenfarms.org.

New Haven Farms 2012 Fresh Produce Prescription Program focused on growing enough vegetables across several city sites to distribute those vegetables equally among 30 Fair Haven families. Families who were within 200% of the poverty level and either at risk for, or diagnosed with, diabetes were referred to the program by Fair Haven Community Health Center clinicians. Over the course of 16 weeks beginning in June and concluding last week, family members came out to grow their own vegetables and learn how to prepare them during cooking demonstrations.
